Founded over 30 years ago, Lighting Design LDL (LDL) is a center of innovation helping Seattle City Light and northwest utilities effectively engage with the regional design and construction communities. With core funding from Seattle City Light and support from a public-private partnership, LDL is a hub for regional collaboration, supporting market deployment of emerging technologies.

Located in the SoDo area of Seattle, LDL serves as a venue for collaboration around lighting and building systems. LDL’s facility has space for training, a mockup room for lighting system testing and evaluation, meeting space, and display areas showcasing new technologies. LDL staff are industry leaders with unique expertise in lighting technology and design, experience in training and education, knowledge of utility programs and policy, and a successful track record of supporting innovative projects across the Pacific Northwest.

Professional Services

Lighting Support

Lighting services consist of LDL staff performing mock-ups, project consultations, and computer modeling. These professional services can greatly benefit end-use customers and support utility program goals.

Utility Program Support

Utility program support services consist of LDL staff working on behalf of utilities to provide program design, data analysis, policy guidance and more.  These professional services are aimed at helping utilities optimize their investment in reaching savings goals and exceeding customer expectations.

LDL is an industry leader developing and delivering new curriculum for the lighting and utility industries. With both in-person and online events LDL offers CEU’s for many of its classes delivered across the northwest.
