New logo!

After more than three decades of important work transforming the lighting industry through education, training, and show-and-tell, the Lab has expanded its focus to efficient building electrification technologies.

Why now?

  • Customers are interested in lowering their carbon footprint, complying with building codes and standards, and creating spaces that are more comfortable, safe, and resilient.
  • Building professionals are looking for up-to-date information, tools, and resources to meet aggressive codes and standards, design and install successful projects, and maintain those efficient electrified buildings.
  • Technologies like modern heat pumps and heat pump water heaters are still relatively new, innovation in ventilation and building envelope provides design flexibility – and education and training is needed to ensure these technologies and approaches will deliver the performance and efficiency customers expect.

We helped the lighting industry navigate the change from incandescent to fluorescent, from magnetic ballasts to electronic, from fluorescent to LED, and from on-off switches to programmable controls.

Now, we're helping building professionals navigate the changes impacting their work – your work.

The Lab at City Light better reflects this new goal while maintaining the connection to our Lighting Design Lab legacy.

Over the next few months, you'll see our newsletter and website change as we incorporate the new name, logo, colors, and other elements into our materials.

Our programming will continue to focus on efficient building electrification technologies, bringing you engaging presentations and trainings from experts across the industry.
