SEATTLE – Deputy Director-General, Mr. Shancheng Wang, from the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), along with other key energy and conservation leaders from China visited Lighting Design Lab (LDL) today as part of a three-week study tour across the United States.

The delegation’s visit included a presentation and an interactive tour of Lighting Design Lab, where the group learned about Seattle City Light’s successes in reducing the city’s carbon footprint through well managed resources and energy-efficiency programs, including the important role that lighting and lighting technologies plays in decreasing energy use in commercial buildings and streetlight applications.

“What a great opportunity to support our colleagues at the Department of Energy and their agreement with China. An exchange like this is an important step for energy leaders from both countries to learn from each other, especially as the future of energy management continues to rapidly change. On behalf of City Light and Lighting Design Lab, it was a pleasure to host Mr. Shancheng and his team,” said Michael Jones, Power Supply and Strategic Planning Officer for Seattle City Light.

China’s NDRC and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) established a 10-year cooperation framework that enables the exchange of information and ideas between the two countries to help promote innovative solutions to the energy and environment problems both countries face.  Untitled-2.png
