We know that designing for daylight in our buildings makes occupants happier and more productive, improves retail sales, increases student testing scores and retention – all while offering the potential for significant energy savings when paired with daylight harvesting electric lighting systems. This class will introduce students to daylighting basics including initial siting and orientation, effective glazing, shading and louvering systems, and simple rules of thumb to maximize available visible daylight within the built environment while minimizing potential solar heat gain.
