In 2019, Lighting Design Lab (LDL) identified the networked lighting controls (NLC) user interface as a primary focus area for research. Observing the myriad of approaches on the market, LDL identified the NLC user interface most commonly occurs in two distinct places.

The first is wall stations, which are the primary method of control for building occupants, including tenants and facility professionals. The second user interface experience is unique to (increasingly) app-based configuration tools. The configuration tool is necessary for initial setup and ongoing maintenance, and is used by contractors and facility professionals.

In our quest to better understand the NLC user experience, LDL interviewed 8 manufacturers and conducted a survey which reached more than 100 participants. Participants in this SEASON FINALE webinar will be the first to hear lessons learned and key takeaways from LDL’s 2020 primary research project.

Participants who attend will learn about:
  • Dominate trends for wall stations and configuration tool user interfaces
  • How user preference for interfaces can be space specific
  • Design considerations that will optimize system performance and enhance the user-experience

Speakers:
This webinar is hosted by John Arthur Wilson from the LDL and will feature special guest speakers from the University of Washington’s Integrated Design Lab – and Washington State University’s Integrated Design + Construction Lab.
